How does the confirmation and collection of an S/MIME certificate work in the Edge browser?

Since Microsoft support for Internet Explorer 11 has been discontinued, it is now necessary to confirm and retrieve an S/MIME certificate via the Edge browser. With the following instructions we would like to give you some guidance on how to do this.

1

After placing an order for an S/MIME certificate on our website, you will receive an e-mail from our system asking you to confirm your e-mail address. This email contains a link that you must use to confirm your email address. In the first step, copy this link and then open your Edge browser.

2

In your Edge browser, click on the three dots in the upper right area of the window and then select the option "Settings" .

3

In the left menu, switch to the tab "Default Browser" and make sure that the option "Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode)" is set to "Allow".

4

Click on the button "Add" at "Internet Explorer mode pages" and copy the link from the received e-mail into it. Then confirm with "Ok".

5

Now open a new tab in your Edge browser and add the copied link into the address bar. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to access the page.

6

You will now see a message that the website is trying to perform a digital certificate operation. Confirm this message with "Yes".

7

In the next step, click "Request my Certificate Now" to confirm your email address.

8

You will then receive another email from our system informing you that your certificate is ready for collection. Again, copy the link and open it in the Edge browser.

9

The download will be initiated directly after calling the collection link. To download the issued certificate, click the "Keep" button at the top right of "Downloads".
