The EuropeanMX DMARC-Generator

Our DMARC generator will help you prepare the DMARC record. After entering the domain name for which you want to set the entry, the generator will go through all the necessary points with you step by step.

Use our generator to generate a compliant DMARC record and extend the protection of your domain today by ensuring that your messages are handled according to current standards and are also accepted by recipients.

What is a DMARC record?

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance) was developed to limit and reduce email misuse, such as mail spoofing.

The specification attempts to address long-standing deficiencies associated with email authentication. With DMARC, you specify for your domain how the recipient server should authenticate incoming email and what it should do with the message in the event of an error. The recipient server uses both the SPF and DKIM records of the sender domain in the verification process.

While SPF specifies who is allowed to send a message on behalf of the domain and DKIM ensures that the message originates unchanged from the sender, the DMARC specification allows the sender to make additional recommendations on how the recipient should handle mail that does not meet the requirements in one or more cases. Provided that the recipient of an email applies the DMARC specification, this ensures consistent verification of the authenticity of this email.

How is a DMARC record structured?

DMARC uses a TXT record in the DNS settings, similar to DKIM and SPF.

Here, a resource record is created for the subdomain "_dmarc", which describes the DMARC policy for the sender domain.

The following is an example of how the DMARC of a domain "test.com" might look like:

v=DMARC1;p=quarantine;pct=100;rua=mailto:RUA@test.com;ruf=mailto:RUF@example.org;adkim=s;aspf=r

AbbreviationMeaning
v
Protocol version
pct
Percentage of mails to be filtered
ruf
Forensic report should be sent to:
rua

Aggregated report to be sent to:

rf

Error report format

p
Instruction how to proceed with the mails of the main domain
sp
Instruction how to proceed with the mails of the sub domain
adkim
Adjustment mode for DKIM
aspf
Adjustment mode for SPF
fo

Why you should set a DMARC record.

To protect your business from malware and phishing attacks, DMARC serves as a line of defense that additionally improves the overall deliverability of your messages.  Once the DMARC record is created, it ensures that only authorized senders can send messages through your domain.

DMARC serves as the 3rd measure after SPF and DKIM to protect your email infrastructure. If the SPF and DKIM check fails, DMARC makes it possible to determine whether the messages should be accepted anyway.

How can I generate a DMARC record for my domain?

To quickly and easily generate a DMARC record, use our free generator at the top of this page. Our tool will guide you step-by-step through the creation process.

What information is required when creating the DMARC record?

To create the DMARC Record, our generator asks for all the necessary information.

  • Domain policy type

Use this option to specify how service providers should handle messages whose SPF or DKIM checks have failed. If you are not sure whether your domain authenticates all messages, please select the "None" option. Of course, you will still receive the reports.

  • Summary email (RUA)

Enter a mail address here where you want to receive the reports of messages rejected due to SPF or DKIM for your domain.

  • Maximum size of the RUA

Use this value to set the maximum size of RUA files you receive by mail. This is helpful because most mail servers use a size limit. If you do not want to set a limit, then please check the checkbox.

  • Forensic email (RUF)

Enter a mail address here where you want to receive sample messages that have been rejected due to SPF or DKIM for your domain.

  • Maximum size of the RUF

With this value you set the maximum size of the RUF files you will receive by mail. This is helpful because most mail servers use a size limit. If you do not want to set a limit, then please check the checkbox.

I am unsure, and do not want to set the SPF entry incorrectly.

No problem at all. Feel free to contact us if you are unsure how to make the settings or want to make sure that the generated entry was created correctly for your purpose.
