The professional SSL certificate for companies and organizations.

In order to validate your ownership of the domain to certify, we offer 3 different methods:

• VALIDATION THROUGH EMAIL
  An email with a confirmation link is sent to an email address directly attached to the domain name. Usually that is an email like hostmaster@yourdomain.com or admin@yourdomain.com. We also accept email addresses included in the WHOIS entry of your domain.
  
  
• VALIDATION THROUGH FILE UPLOAD
  This method is preferable if you can't access any of the mentioned domain mailboxes. After you have placed your order, we will sent you a file including a special validation code. Upload that file into the special folder on your domain's webspace, e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/.well-known/pki-validation/XYZ.html and as soon as our servers are able to access the file, your certificate gets issued.
  
  
• VALIDATION THROUGH DNS (CNAME ENTRY)
  Instead of uploading a file, it is also possible to create a CNAME record in the DNS zone of your Domain. The required codes will be sent to you, after you have placed your order. This method is especially useful for automation in combination with our REST API.
  

Although we ask you to specify a validation method when you place your order, it is possible to switch between these methods later.

In addition to the domain validation, we will verify your company registration information, ensuring you are indeed a legal entity. It is also required to verify that you are authorized to receive a cerfiticate on behalf of the company. This process usually takes 1 to 3 business days and included the following steps:

• ORGANIZATION VERIFICATION
  If your country provides public business registration records, this usually happens without your involvement. Alternatively a free business credit report at "Dun & Bradstreet" can be used.
  
  
• LOCALITY VERIFICATION
  To verify the locality stated in your CSR, we will acquire or request official registration documents for your business.
  
  
• PHONE VERIFICATION
  A phone number must be listed in a trusted directory. If that can't be found we will provide you with alternatives.
  
  
• FINAL PHONE CALL
  One of our representatives will call the ascertained phone number to verify the details of the certificate order wiht you.
  

As soon as the 2 validation steps have been completed, the certificate is issued. Usually the whole process takes less than 3 business days. The certificate file is sent to you by email and can be downloaded in your account at any time.

Certificate installation depends a lot on the server software you are using. Please refer to our Knowledge Base for instructions for common server platforms.

During the validity period of your certificate it is always possible to change certificate details, including the domain name by submitting us a new CSR. Replacement certificates are free of charge, but adopt the expiration date of the former certificate. A re-validation and reinstallation according to steps 1 and 2 is required.

Upon expiration it is easy to renew a certificate for another year through your customer account or by using our auto-renewal subscription service. This triggers a new validation process and only if that is successful, another period is charged. This is purely optional and non-binding, all contracts end after the 1 year validity period if no renewal validation is made.
