How can I export an e-mail certificate (S/MIME) from Internet Explorer?

1

Open Internet Explorer and then click Settings > Internet Options

2

Select the tab "Content" and click on "Certificates".

3

In the window that appears, make sure that you have selected the "Personal" tab.

4

Select the certificate that you want to export from the certificate store and click on "Export...".

5

In the Certificate Export Wizard, click the "Next" button and then select the "Yes, export with private key" option.

6

Select the option "Private Information Exchange -PKCS #12 (.PFX)" and make sure that the "Include all certificates in the certification path if possible" and "Certificate Privacy" options are enabled. Then click on "Next".

7

Create a password to protect the certificate file from abuse. You will need this password later if you want to implement the certificate in your mail client. Click "Next" to continue the process.

8

Your certificate will be exported to a PKCS12 file.  Specify the desired path where the wizard should save the file and click "Next".

9

Check the settings again and complete the export by clicking on "Finish".

10

Congratulations! You have successfully exported the certificate and can now install it in your mail client.
