How can I apply your MX servers to my DNS settings?

The MX record in your domain's DNS settings is responsible for mail traffic. Here you specify the mail server through which incoming messages for your domain should be received. Using multiple MX records with different priorities is a backup mechanism to prevent messages from being lost if one server fails. If the primary server is unavailable, the system automatically accesses the secondary server and attempts to deliver the message at that point. Please ensure that your MX records always point to the correct destination so that you can receive email.

Which MX records do I have to enter to use EuropeanMX?

Before you change the MX records, you should definitely check whether EuropeanMX can communicate with your mail server. To do this, you can perform a connection check in the admin panel under Incoming > Destinations. To do this, click on the drop-down menu for the stored destination and then select the option Connection check. If the check fails, please check the hostname of the target server to see if it was correctly recognized by EuropeanMX during setup. If this is correct, the problem probably lies elsewhere. Please contact our support team.

In order to use the inbound spam filter of EuropeanMX, the MX records of your domain must be replaced by the following records. Backup servers should not be used here, as spammers would otherwise have the opportunity to deliver spam messages directly to the backup server.

Global (recommended):

10 mx1.europeanmx.eu.
20 mx2.europeanmx.eu.
30 mx3.europeanmx.eu.
40 mx4.europeanmx.eu.

For redundancy reasons, we recommend using our global data sets.

European Union:

10 eu.mx1.europeanmx.eu.
20 eu.mx2.europeanmx.eu.
30 eu.mx3.europeanmx.eu.
40 eu.mx4.europeanmx.eu.

The numbers 10 - 40 represent the respective priority. Please pay attention to the dots at the end of the destination entry. Depending on the provider these are mandatory.

These 4 entries should be the only ones of type MX, others may have to be deleted. It is best to make a note of the original MX entries so you can restore them later. If you have problems saving the MX records, please contact your provider.

Updating DNS records may take up to 24 hours.
