Why do I not get a green address bar in Chrome and Firefox despite having an EV certificate?

Since the use of an SSL certificate has become a standard for websites, the most common browsers only show when a website does not use encryption. As a result, the address bar is no longer displayed in green even when using an EV certificate.

Starting with Firefox version 70.0, the green address bar and company name are no longer displayed when visiting a website. Instead, only the grey lock is displayed, which you can use to call up the certificate information.

If you would like to have at least the name contained in the certificate displayed by default again, you can change this manually via about:config. To do this, change the value security.identityblock.show_extended_validation to true.

Unfortunately this option is not available for Chrome.
